The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

South Shore Dental proudly supports and accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan.

If you’re eligible, many of your dental costs may be covered under this plan. Read below to find out if you qualify.

Who is Eligible for the CDCP?

You may be eligible if you meet all of the following criteria:

  1. You do not have access to private dental insurance.
  2. Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000/year.
  3. You have filed your tax return for the previous year.
  4. You are a Canadian resident.

If you’re not sure if you qualify, visit the Government of Canada website to check eligibility
and apply: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/dental/dental-care-plan.html

What Services Are Covered Under the CDCP?

The CDCP assists in covering a wide selection of important dental care services, including:

  • Routine Exams & Emergency Exams
  • Routine cleanings (scaling)
  • Periodontal care
  • X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Root canal treatments
  • Denture services (full and partial)
  • Preventive care like fluoride, sealants & polish

* Additional services covered may require a Pre-Determination to your CDCP plan. Services must be deemed medically necessary and eligible under CDCP guidelines.

Important: You May Still Have a Copayment

While the CDCP covers a percentage of treatment costs based on your income, all patients will have a copayment, as the reimbursement fees set by the Federal Plan are lower than the Ontario Dental Association Fee Guide.

Co-payments based on adjusted family net income:

Adjusted family net income How much the CDCP covers
Under $70,000 Up to 100% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees.
Between $70,000-$79,999 Up to 60% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees.
Between $80,000-$89,999 Up to 40% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees.

Our team can request a Pre-Determination (an estimate) on your behalf before any service, so you’ll have an idea of your estimated out-of-pocket cost. Just ask one of our friendly staff members before your next visit.
